On January 12th, 2012 Greenfield Wind and Italian based energy company Relight amended their current agreement signed on October 14th 2010, expanding their cooperation to over 200 MW early stage wind power projects with an option of adding another 100 MW during 2012 if agreed upon.
The growth of the deal results in that Greenfield Wind together with Relight will develop over 200 MW of early stage wind power projects in Poland between the years 2012 – 2015. After the projects have reached development completion Relight will own and operate the wind power turbines.
The expanded cooperation with Relight also puts Greenfield Wind closer to its goal of having 500 MW of early stage wind power projects initiated and under development with partners during 2013.
“The cooperation has since the start in 2010 been incredibly productive with a rapid development of the projects exceeding expectations. The reason for this is, in my opinion, that the integration of the project teams was efficient where the focus was put entirely on the projects not formalities. We are also pleased that an international company such as Relight has trusted Greenfield Wind to be their partner in Poland for over 200 MW wind power projects through partner development. This proves that our company concept is a success even further”, says Peter Hogren, CEO of Greenfield Wind.
From the 1st of September 2011 two new young professionals join Greenfield Wind and broaden the team’s competence further.
Dorota Weronika Otulak graduated from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences with an Engineer’s degree in Environmental Science. She specialized in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. Weronika also studied for a year at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Before joining the Greenfield Wind team, Weronika was involved in a research project at the Technical University of Madrid concerning reduction of CO2 emissions. She previously worked for the Institute for Sustainable Development and UNEP/GRID in Warsaw, Poland.
Weronika will be assigned as a Project Manager focusing on environmental issues and improving the environmental aspects of our Geographical Information System (GIS). She will also assist our other Project Managers with the development of our current wind power projects. Weronika is fluent in both English and Polish.
Maksym Maksymowicz graduated from University of Warsaw with a Master degree in Inter-Faculty Environmental Protection. He also studied for a half year in Uppsala Universitet, Sweden. Before joining Greenfield Wind team, Maksym worked for the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as for ClientEarth Poland, where he gained experience in working with legal acts on environmental protection. He has also practical experience working with the Geographical Information System (GIS) based on development of a project involving cartographic inventory in the Bieszczady National Park buffer zone in Poland.
In Greenfield Wind, he will be assigned as a Project Manager focusing on locating and acquiring new project sites by working with our Geographical Information System (GIS). Maksym will also assist the other Project Managers in different phases of the development process. Maksym is fluent in English, Russian and Polish.
Experienced board member and executive Anders Ronander joins Greenfield Wind.
With over 30 years of experience from transnational business and several years of operational experience from the Polish market he is a very good addition to the board. Anders brings strategic experience from the food industry as well as long experience of working with governmental institutions.
Anders also acts as the Deputy Chairman of the Swedish-Polish Chamber of Commerce (www.svenskpolska.se). “We are pleased to have Anders onboard and are all looking forward to developing the company together”, says Peter Hogren, CEO of Greenfield Wind.
Experienced Eastern European Renewable investor and executive Adam de Sola Pool invests in Greenfield Wind through the fund Environmental Investment Partners III (www.eip.biz).
Adam also joins the company in a strategic/financial role as an advisor. ”Adam has a deep hands-on experience from wind power in Poland and other parts of CEE as well as a broad network in Poland and rest of Europe which will add great value to the company”, says CEO Peter Hogren.
”What attracted Environmental Investment Partners III (www.eip.biz) to Greenfield Wind was its innovative approach to the market. EIP had previously invested in two wind companies – among them the developer of the largest wind parks in Romania and Poland. This third investment in wind was attractive because of Greenfield Wind’s lower risk, non-speculative market focus. EIP has brought several potential clients to Greenfield Wind and these clients have appreciated the unique perspective that Greenfield has”, says Adam de Sola Pool.
Both parties have decided to not disclose the sum invested.
On October 14th, 2010 Greenfield Wind signed a project development agreement for wind power in Poland with Italian energy company Relight. The development agreement is for 100 MW early stage wind power projects, a total investment amounting to app. 175 million EUR.
The deal means that Greenfield Wind together with Relight develop parts of Greenfield Wind’s project portfolio in Poland. After the projects are finished Relight will own and operate the wind power turbines.
Relight’s goal is to develop and own 300 MW of wind power in Poland and the collaboration with Greenfield Wind is the first investment done on the Polish market. The deal is also an important step towards reaching the Polish 2020 environmental goals.
The projects included in the deal are situated in the northeastern part of Poland. The municipals concerned are positive to wind power projects and welcome the large investments planned in the area. Wind measurements will begin during 2010 and construction is planned to commence in 2013.
